I am a Deputy with the Mesa County, Colorado Sheriff's Office. Mesa County is located in west central
Colorado, along the Utah border. The city of Grand Junction is the county seat. The county population is roughly
140,000.
I am originally from Houston, Texas, and started my law enforcement career in 1993. I worked for
2 police depts. in the suburban Houston area before I moved to Colorado in 1999. Moving from a metro area
with 5 million people to one with just over 100,000 was difficult to adjust to, but I'm glad I made the move.
I am assigned to the RAD (Remote Area Deputy) unit, which is responsible for law enforcement services to the rural parts
of the county, as well as the County Landfill. I have been in the RAD unit since the Fall of 2001. The unit consists
of 5 Deputies and a Sergeant. The RAD unit also is responsible for managing all search and rescue missions
in the county. We work closely with over 200 volunteers with Mesa County Search & Rescue (known as SARC).
In addition to my regular law enforcement duties, I have some collateral duties. I spend a lot of time involved
with radio communications support for the Sheriff's Office and most other public safety agencies in the county.
I am a member of the Grand Junction Regional Communication Center's Incident Dispatch Team (IDT), which is on
call to provide mobile dispatch and communications for critical incidents and special events. I also
attend nearly all line of duty related law enforcement funerals in Colorado and eastern Utah, and am a bi-lingual
Deputy.
I am on call 24/7 for search & rescue, wildfires, or other critical incidents that may need emergency
communications assistance.
My current assigned vehicle is a 2007 GMC Sierra 4x4 pickup, which is shown on top of my home page.
